After passing the Philippines, last night, Typhoon Conson entered the East Sea and became the No. 5 storm in 2021 in the East Sea.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 4:00 am on September 9, the location of the storm Conson’s center was about 780 km southeast of the Paracel Islands, at about 15.7 degrees north latitude; 118.8 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the storm has strong winds of level 9 equivalent to 75-90 km/h, level 11. From the center of the storm, the radius of strong winds from level 6, gusts from level 8 or higher is about 120 km.
In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecasted to move 15-20 km per hour, moving in the northwest direction and is likely to strengthen. At 4 a.m. on September 10, the storm’s center is forecast to be about 350 km east of the Paracel Islands, at about 16.5 degrees North latitude; 115.0 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the storm has the strongest wind gust of level 10, equivalent to 90-100 km/h, level 12.
In the next 24 hours, the dangerous area in the East Sea lies from latitude 14.0 to 18.0 degrees North latitude; East of the longitude 113.5 degrees East longitude, there will be strong winds from level 6, gusts from level 8 or higher. Therefore, meteorologists warn that all ships operating in dangerous areas need to actively avoid because they are at high risk of being affected by strong winds, tornadoes and high waves.
Over the next 24 to 48 hours, Conson will travel 10 to 15 km per hour, moving mainly westward and likely to intensify. At 4 a.m. on September 11, the location of the storm’s center was right on the Hoang Sa archipelago, at about 16.4 degrees North latitude; 112.3 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the storm has wind strength of level 11 equivalent to 100-120 km/h, level 13.
In the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm will move mainly to the west, at 5-10 km per hour. At 4 a.m. on September 12, the location of the storm’s center was about 16.6 degrees north latitude; 110.5 degrees East longitude, about 150 km west of the Paracel Islands. The area near the center of the storm has wind strength of level 11 equivalent to 100-120 km/h, level 13.
In the next 72 to 120 hours, Hurricane Conson will travel 5-10 km per hour, moving in a northwest direction. Warning for the eastern sea area in the North and Middle of the East Sea with strong winds and large waves, vortex level 7-8, the area near the center of the storm passes through level 9, then increases to 10, level 12 shocks, violent seas, waves sea height from 4.0-6.0 m.
The eastern seaboard, the North and the middle of the East Sea, has a natural disaster risk level 3.
