Recently, Nguyen Quang Dat – the captain born in 1991 – had a question and answer session with the audience on his personal page, thereby revealing many things about the pilot’s job as well as issues related to the aviation industry.
The young captain revealed that before the epidemic, pilots at his company often went on business trips 7-10 nights/month. This profession requires a minimum height of 1m65 because too short will not reach the foot pedal on the plane. The life expectancy of this industry is also not as low as many people think.
“Pilots in Vietnam now, if they meet the requirements of the law, can fly to 65 years old,” Quang Dat said.
In particular, when receiving the question: “Is the working environment of the flight attendants easy to have an affair?”, the young captain frankly said: “The working environment of the adulterer will have an affair. Which profession is not relevant”.
With many assumptions that a pilot is a “money-making” profession, the lives of both flight attendants and pilots are extremely rich, Quang Dat humorously replied: “Yes, I am rich in love”.
With this series of answers, Quang Dat has partly “smashed” the prejudices of many people about the profession of pilots and flight attendants who are rich, often go far away from home and are prone to adultery.
In addition, the young pilot also explained in detail many little known things about the process of controlling the aircraft. Pilots now spend most of their time “monitoring” the autopilot, he said, rather than directly piloting the aircraft. This ensures safety as well as the pilot will easily control when the automatic system does not work as expected.
This job also requires pilots to regularly practice flying, prepare for bad situations and improve their skills every day.
