On September 10, the Ministry of Health conditionally approved the Hayat – Vax vaccine against Covid-19 due to the urgent need in the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Specifically, Deputy Health Minister Truong Quoc Cuong signed the decision approving the 7th Covid-19 vaccine, circulating in Vietnam. In particular, this newly approved vaccine, called Hayat – Vax, is manufactured by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products of China National Biotec Corporation.
This unit then sold finished products to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). UAE has carried out packaging and shipment. Thus, the Hayat – Vax vaccine is manufactured in China, then technology is transferred, and is packaged and shipped in the UAE.
Accordingly, each dose of Hayat – Vax vaccine 0.5ml contains 6.5 units of SARS-CoV-2 antigen (vero cells) inactivated. The unit requesting approval of this vaccine is Vimedimex Medicine and Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company. The Ministry of Health has based on the safety, quality and effectiveness data that this unit has provided, to approve the Hayat – Vax vaccine.
Regarding this vaccine, the Ministry of Health has requested the Drug Administration of Vietnam, when receiving the dossier of the importer, will issue a license to import the Hayat – Vax vaccine according to regulations.
The Department of Preventive Medicine will be the unit to receive, store, as well as distribute and use the Hayat – Vax vaccine. The National Institute for Testing of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals will be the unit responsible for testing and issuing the Certificate of Ex-works for the batch of Hayat – Vax vaccine before this vaccine is put into use.
During the circulation in Vietnam, the Ministry of Health also requires the vaccine importing company to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to manage the risks of Hayat-Vax vaccine.
Thus, this is the 7th Covid-19 vaccine in Vietnam licensed by the Ministry of Health, after vaccines such as AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Sinopharm, Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
As of today, September 10, Vietnam has vaccinated 26 million doses out of a total of about 30 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine received from manufacturers.
