Storm No. 5 is approaching the coasts of provinces from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai. Currently, the provinces in this area have had heavy to very heavy rain.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at Ly Son island station (Quang Ngai) due to the influence of storm No. 5/Hurricane Conson, there were strong winds of level 7, gusts of level 10. Areas from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh also had heavy rain, in some places it rained very heavily with rainfall over 150 mm in some places.
At 10 am today, September 11, the center of the storm No. 5 is about 180 km east of the coast of Quang Tri – Quang Ngai, at about 15.7 degrees North latitude; 110.1 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the storm has strong winds of 9-10, equivalent to 75-100 km/h, level 12.
In the next 12 hours, storm No. 5 is forecasted to move 5-10 km per hour, moving westward. At 22:00 today, September 11, the location of the storm’s center was right on the sea from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, at about 15.7 degrees North latitude; 109.2 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the storm has strong winds of level 8-9, equivalent to 65-90 km/h, level 11.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, Conson is forecast to move 5-10 km per hour, move westward, inland, and gradually weaken into a tropical depression. At 10:00 am tomorrow, September 12, the center of the tropical depression will be located on the mainland from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, at about 15.8 degrees North latitude; 108.2 degrees East longitude. The area near the center of the tropical depression has strong winds of level 7 equivalent to 50-60 km/h, level 9 gusts.
In the next 24 hours, the dangerous area on the Sea will have strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8 or higher, located from the west longitude 111.5 degrees East longitude, latitude 14.0 to 18.0 degrees North latitude. Therefore, all activities in the danger zone should be proactively avoided because there is a high risk of being affected by strong winds, high waves and tornadoes.
Due to the influence of storm No. 5, the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai had strong winds of 6-7, then increased to level 8-9, level 11; The sea is very rough, the waves are from 4.0-5.0m high.
Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the tropical depression will travel 5-10 km per hour, move to the northwest, and weaken into an area of low pressure. At 10:00 on September 13, the central position of the low pressure area on the mainland in Central Laos, at about 16.2 degrees North latitude; 106.6 degrees East longitude. In the center of the low pressure area, the strongest wind is below level 6, equivalent to less than 40km/h.
The coastal area from Quang Tri to Quang Nam from today to tomorrow (September 12), due to the influence of the storm, the wind will gradually increase to level 6-7, the area near the storm center of level 10; inland areas with gusts of 7-8.
The provinces from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai from now to September 13 will also have heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall over 350 mm in some places.
The provinces from Quang Binh to Thanh Hoa from tomorrow 12-14 September will also have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places with very heavy rain with rainfall over 250 mm in some places.
The provinces of Binh Dinh, Kon Tum and Gia Lai from now until September 12, are also affected by the storm No. 5, so there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain with rainfall over 100 mm in some places.
