The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting this morning on September 10 said that at 7 am on the same day, the center of storm No. 5/Hurricane Conson was located at about 15.9 degrees North latitude; 113.4 degrees East longitude. Compared to yesterday, the intensity of the storm increased by one level, up to level 10, level 12 shock.
According to the forecast in the next 24 hours, the storm No. 5 has a speed of 15km/h, will move mainly to the west and is likely to become stronger.
At 7 am tomorrow, September 11, the location of the center of storm Conson is right above the Hoang Sa archipelago, about 16.0 degrees North latitude; 111.5 degrees East longitude. The intensity of the storm at this time will be strong to level 11, shock level 13.
In the next hours, storm No. 5 will move slowly, and will head towards the coasts of provinces from Thua Thien Hue – Da Nang. In the process of moving, the storm’s intensity at this time continued to strengthen. Because the storm moves slowly, while the intensity is getting stronger, during this time, the Hoang Sa archipelago will have strong winds and long waves, so all ships operating in the area are in danger.
In 24 hours to the dangerous area in the East Sea, from longitude 109.5 to 115.5 degrees East longitude, latitude 14.0 to 18.5 degrees North latitude; there will be strong winds from level 6, gusts from level 8 and above.
By the morning of September 13, it is forecast that the center of storm No. 5 will be right on the sea from Quang Tri – Quang Ngai, with a strong intensity of 10-11, level 13.
Due to the influence of Typhoon Conson on the mainland, from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai provinces from September 11 to 13, there was heavy to very heavy rain. In the provinces from Quang Binh to Thanh Hoa from September 12 to 14, there is also moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain in some places with rainfall over 250mm in some places.
Experts warn that due to heavy rain and strong winds, unharvested rice areas in the Northern region, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang may be affected, reservoirs have been filled with water, other areas will be affected. Those who are in isolation due to the Covid-19 epidemic need to be proactive in preventing and paying close attention.
According to the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, by the evening of September 9, the border guards of provinces and cities had called and notified 71,419 boats. Currently, 351 boats are still operating in the expected movement area of typhoon No. 5.
