Slope house designed by AD + studio with a unique structure, taking advantage of the available slope of the terrain to create a creative inclined housing project.
The special architecture that we want to invite readers to visit today is located in Ho Chi Minh City. Thu Dau Mot is in Binh Duong province. The house is teamed AD + studio Designed on a land area of 180m² (total construction area of 300m²) with a very impressive name: Slope House.
Slope House construction site is located on a steep road branching from a fork, surrounded by trees and opposite a small park. The lot itself has a slight slope at the back, causing a difference in the degree of about 1.5 meters. The house is designed for a family of 3 generations with 4 members including grandfather, parents and son. The client requested to arrange the master bedroom in the center, from which there was a general view of the common living space and the grandfather’s room on the ground floor.
A representative of AD + studio shared: “Grad is the concept that we try to develop in this project. The design team’s plan was to divide the house vertically into 2 parts accessible by 2 different stairs. The front stairs are used for the purpose of leading from the garage to the living room, while the rear stairs will be used by family members to go up to private rooms after visiting their grandfather on the first floor. ground floor”.
The first and last steps of the two stairs are designed so that they are located in the same position on the ground, leaving space for the atrium core. As a result, the rear staircase becomes a flexible structure that serves as an important element connecting the entire building.
To take advantage of the sloping terrain, the concrete floor was staggered by the design team to create a semi-outdoor, high ceiling and airy courtyard. Homeowners can use it as a playground or gathering space for occasional meetings and parties.
Diagonal lines are also used in this architecture instead of the usual 3-storey vertical block of townhouses. At the Slope House, the upper block is pushed back and integrated with the terracotta roof. This solution has helped the housing project to avoid the feeling of heaviness and stiffness, especially when looking only at the elevation ahead. After going through the main gate, the top floor will gradually “disappear” and everyone will feel the floor-to-ceiling scale in a one-story, one-story design that feels familiar and welcoming!
