People say that all the time. Experts say the same. In fact, a lot of people often say that over the years it started to become popular and can even be heard through our ears. But you know it’s true. Very simple:
But surely as we all know those things, we also know that for us humans it is not as simple as claiming, or even proving, that exercise can change the whole world. our world. It is not even as easy as describing it, as many people do, as a “magic pill” that provides all the benefits listed, plus many more, with no side effects and no downsides. We’re just too busy, or dense, or something, to heed that advice so much of the time.
Something about training in modern life is difficult for us. Most people have tried to start exercising several times in their lives and are unable to exercise for one reason or another. And most of us have the mindset that exercise is a really hard thing to do day in and day out. But seasoned “exerciseers” will attest that once you’re excited about your workout – a habit if you will – it gets easier. It might not be a cakewalk, but it’s become more imperative, and more like something you just do. Like any other kind of routine or chore. (And if you’re really lucky, it really gets interesting at some point — or so I’ve heard.)
Then the problem is actually much simpler. It’s also something we all face every day in our work and productivity journey. It’s just another coat of paint on our old friend: procrastination. But just like when we sit at our desks staring into space and stuck, the answer to our problem is simple.
Of course, getting started on its own can also be difficult. And when you’re just getting started, each subsequent day can feel like you’re breaking through that resistance wall all over again.
But keep in mind the reasons we’re doing this. You want to perform at your best during your workday. You want to feel the brain fog lifted. And you want to try bottling if possible, feeling bright, fresh and mentally capable of taking on everything. It’s one of those feelings I’m chasing every day. And the right people and honest enthusiasts seem to have it in their veins sometimes.
Thomas Frank asserts that there are really only three things you need in the morning to get your brain in the right place, helping to eliminate sleepiness: move, sunlight, and water. You can try it yourself. Even on a day where you’re forced to sleep only five hours or so, just get out and walk around. Working up just needs to sweat enough to make you crave a glass of water when you walk in the door. It’s simple, but you’ll be surprised at the difference you feel looking down the rest of the day.
