After the renovation, the 18m² mini apartment has had a spectacular “makeover”, putting on a new shirt in an elegant Scandinavian style, full of life.
The impressive living space that we introduce to you today is an apartment that not only has a long and narrow layout but also possesses a super small area, only… 18m². The apartment belongs to an apartment complex in Lyon – a city located in the southeast of France. Initially, the condition of the apartment was extremely poor, the furniture was old, the walls and ceiling were patchy, plus the lack of lighting system, so it looked very dark. After being renovated, the apartment has had a spectacular “makeover”, putting on a bright, comfortable and full of life new shirt.
After surveying the situation, the interior designer decided to turn this space into a charming place to go home. Perhaps in the minds of most people, everyone thinks that the area of 18m² is too small a number to create a comfortable place to live. But for the couple who started their business in a big city, this is the most perfect living space possible. The designer chose elegant Scandinavian style, comfortable furniture and a bright color palette to complete this renovation project.
The most eye-catching feature of the apartment is the bright yellow sofa bed in the center of the living room. It is not only a sofa to sit on, but also flexibly turn into a comfortable bed. The solution of turning the living room into a bedroom in the evening is often used for small studio apartments. A wooden framed water table with transparent glass shows a colorful geometric pattern carpet. Above is a transparent glass ball with shimmering candlelight.
A white painted wooden partition with dramatic ceiling height is used to divide the living room and kitchen in a light and airy way. Even in the small kitchen and dining room space, the system of high-ceilinged wall cabinets and open shelves is fully utilized to enhance vertical storage space. The dining table set is designed in a simple Nordic style, meeting the needs of 2 people.
Obviously, with the limited area of the apartment, the designer will not embrace too much furniture, making the already small space even narrower. The highlight that the designer wants to use is color – the key to awaken the eye of the viewer. Besides the main white color, the pink wall behind the living room sofa or blue in the bathroom, with bright yellow accents and wooden furniture have added warmth as well as zoning visually. Although the apartment is newly renovated, the old wooden floor and fireplace are still kept original to preserve, restore and create a combination of old and new, classic and modern. .
Natural light floods the functional areas, combined with potted green plants, greatly improving the atmosphere inside the small apartment, helping it to get rid of the original stuffiness. It can be said that this is a successfully renovated apartment, completely free of redundant details. Every element is carefully arranged to partition the space without sacrificing the modern, sophisticated Scandinavian style in each room.
