Here, the boy did not play well, even after 4 rounds, the score kept decreasing and only -15 points. Not only Kien, but this male student’s family was very sad and disappointed.
Later, when participating in the Gala program 20 years on the way to Olympia, Kien recalled that he was only a 17-year-old student at that time. Failure at the program made Kiet completely depressed, ashamed, disappointed, constantly having negative thoughts, ever intending to leave home.

“People always think that I’m talented and can bring glory to my family, school and province. Maybe it’s because I have some achievements in the locality. When I only got 0 points, I was shocked. I watch everyone, the sadness of my loved ones makes me even more painful. It feels like I’m falling. Before I joined, my parents told everyone to watch my son’s exam every day.
But after I finished the exam, my parents didn’t mention it anymore. I also understand that my parents are disappointed in me. Other friends who are not close or have animosity always dig up that story every day, every hour. When you meet me, you will point and say this and that,” Quan Kien recalled.
At that time, Quan Kien did not communicate with anyone, and when he returned home, he was afraid to meet his parents, his academic performance was clearly reduced. One day, a male student in Long An read the newspaper and saw some articles about candidates who took the Olympia exam but did not get the expected results, Kien was very afraid that his name would be in it. “At that time, I didn’t want to come back to see everyone again,” Quan Kien choked.

However, at that time, the boy’s mother became seriously ill and confided in her son that she only wanted the best for him. Those words made Quan Kien wake up, regain his spirit and start studying. Male students also receive a lot of encouragement from friends and teachers.
It is known that after a period of regaining his spirit and studying hard, Quan Kien passed the Electrical Department exam – the Vietnam France High Quality Program of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
